Singapore Management University To design a brand new university in an inner city area constitutes a unique opportunity. Designing a contemporary university from scratch, we should evolve past a secluded ivy lined vernacular in concept. In this project the veins of the city run through the site, the campus is the city itself: univerCity. We propose a dynamic and open system to plug into existing structures. The amplification of the precedent and superimposition of new ideas and concepts create that dynamism. This £120m build-cost project was developed on a fast-track to ensure that the piling was completed ahead of the boring of a new underground line under the buildings. The campus is for 6,000 students and opened on 20 January 2006.
